Motivation to be a fighter….
Today, we live in a social network world where we post what “looks cool” and what “sounds cool” to get people to “like” us… Some people like the accolades that come with being a “fighter” but fail to realize the amount of dedication, commitment and sacrifice that it actually takes to be great. Some settle for mediocrity because maybe they haven’t learned what it takes to work hard to be great.
To be great, you must have something within you that refuses to let you take the easy road. It’s the thing in you when you wake up in the morning that pushes you to put on the running shoes and go for that 5 mile run, versus hit the snooze button and go back to sleep. It’s the thing that pushes you 10% further when you feel you hit that 100% worth of effort during your training session.
The true motivation is the drive that allows a fighter to see, and more importantly, believe that he or she actually has what it takes become successful. It’s the inner passion that one has to keep pushing knowing that all this work will pay off when the time is right. They realize that each little extra push is a step further in the process to greatness. They know that in order to reach that goal they must sacrifice many things that most others are not willing to give up.
A driven fighter is one that knows that they cannot damage their body by following suit with what’s “cool” by hanging out and doing the things that will slow down this process of becoming great. This isn’t something that is easily attained. Most are not born with it. I personally feel this is an understanding that one must reach to realize that they need to do certain things that might take them away from other things in order to reach that goal.. Some can be taught this and others will develop into this.
At the end of the day it is up to each individual fighter to create the desire to be great and take responsibility for their own success. This is done by understanding what it takes to have the motivation to be a great fighter..
